Step 1: Prepare the Chicken
Wash and dry your chicken pieces with paper towels.
Cut each chicken breast into two thinner pieces (optional, but faster cooking).
Step 2: Make the Marinade
In a bowl, mix soy sauce, lemon juice, ginger, garlic, salt, pepper, and sesame oil.
Add chicken to the bowl and rub the marinade all over.
Cover and let it sit for 15 minutes at room temperature (or in the fridge for 30 minutes).
Step 3: Set Up the Steamer
Fill your large pot with 2 inches of water.
Place the steamer basket inside (water should not touch the basket).
Turn on the heat and bring the water to a boil.
Step 4: Steam the Chicken
Place the marinated chicken in the steamer basket.
Cover the pot with a lid tightly.
Steam for 25 to 30 minutes. You can check doneness with a fork or thermometer.
The chicken is done when it's white inside and the internal temperature is 165°F (74°C).
Step 5: Let It Rest
Carefully remove the chicken from the steamer.
Let it sit for 5 minutes before slicing.
